A Young Female Quits Drinking, Suffers Through Alcohol Withdrawal Symptoms, And Makes Up Her Mind To Get Alcohol Rehabilitation
Kayla is a thirty-two-year-old accounts receivable clerk who has been ingesting alcohol in an abusive and hazardous manner since she and her fiancee severed their relationship. In truth, for the past nine months she has been drinking almost one-and-a-half bottles of wine every night, and on the weekends she also has been drinking several wine coolers during the day. In a word, Kayla has been drinking so abusively that it's a wonder that she hasn't suffered from alcohol withdrawals when she tried to stop drinking.
After feeling depressed because she was starting to forget about the importance of her health, Kayla at last told herself that enough is enough, that it's time to quit the self pity act, that it's time to stop the abusive and hazardous drinking, and time to move on with her life. So the following Saturday morning at 10:00 AM, she decided to stop drinking suddenly and completely without planning or preparation.
When she called her best girlfriend and informed her that she had stopped drinking and that after a few hours she suddenly started to have flu-like symptoms, Florence, her best friend, told Kayla to call her medical practitioner and tell him what she was going through.
Her medical practitioner informed her that she may be suffering from alcohol withdrawal symptoms and that she should have a friend or family member take her to the emergency room as soon as humanly possible. Apparently her medical practitioner had called ahead and told the emergency room medical team to expect Kayla because when she got to the hospital, she was met by two ER workers who immediately told her to sit down in the wheelchair they had with them.
An emergency room physician gave her some meds to reduce her flu-like symptoms and also gave her some drugs to help get rid of the alcohol that was still in her circulation system. After a few hours, Kayla was transferred from the ER and transported to the recovery room.
After she was in recovery for approximately two hours, Doctor Devor, a chemical dependency and substance abuse specialist, came to see her. He took his time and explained in plain words that Kayla had suffered through alcohol withdrawal symptoms when she quit drinking because she had become alcohol dependent.
He then elucidated the fact that with excessive drinking on a daily basis, the person's brain over time becomes accustomed to the alcohol so that it can function in a "routine" manner. When the individual then all of a sudden refrains from consuming alcohol, it can be stressed, the brain takes action by giving rise to alcohol withdrawal symptoms. What is more, her healthcare professional also went over the different alcoholism symptoms that an alcohol addicted individual commonly goes through as the disease gets worse over time.
Fortunately for Kayla, it was verified that she was in the earliest stage of alcohol dependency and, as a consequence, she received a favorable forecast for a total recovery if she will get the alcohol dependency rehabilitation she needs.
Kayla told the healthcare practitioner that she will do whatever it takes to get sober and to get back her life. She also articulated that she has an exceptional hospitalization plan that will quite possibly pay for most, if not all, of the treatment costs. It was apparent that Kayla was extremely pleased with her encouraging medical forecast and felt at ease knowing that she will be able to get the alcohol therapy she requires so that she can start on the path to recovery.
